Na Ho’okele or The Steerers
Sculptor: Robbi Pittorino
Architect: Tim Wright, Wright Feldhusen Architects
Builder: James Muzone, Building With Options
We are excited to announce the launch of new sculpture series: na ho’okele (the steerers).
The project began as a sculpture commission for James and Manuela Munzone – a wonderful opportunity to add to the fantastic façade of their Sydney home, designed by architect Tim Wright. Robbi was inspired to unite the materials used in their home: timber, concrete and marble.
When meeting at the Munzone home to discuss the project, Robbi noticed a paddle, stored reverently in a purpose-built cabinet. Manu and James are avid outriggers and told us about their almost daily escape to the water. Images of the strong, rhythmic movement of the paddles and the idea of navigating powerfully through life gave birth to the original sculpture triptych.
Further sculptures in this series are now available in concrete. Each sculpture will be custom made and can be created with a range of colour pigments and aggregates. The sculptures are suitable for indoor and outdoor usage.
